Alabama Fiber Network Joins INDATEL Services Member Family: Bringing Unparalleled Growth and Connectivity to the Southeast
Overland Park, KS — November 20th, 2024: INDATEL Services is thrilled to announce the addition of Alabama Fiber Network (AFN) to its expanding member family. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the mission to deliver enhanced connectivity across the Southeast, solidifying INDATEL’s position as a premier provider of rural and underserved America.
Terry Metze Jr., an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, leads the charge at Alabama Fiber Network as CEO. “Our goal is to establish a super-regional network, and joining INDATEL was the natural next step,” said Metze. “Their extensive network fills critical gaps in Alabama, enabling us to serve community anchor institutions, last-mile providers, and statewide organizations with the depth and breadth that this region demands.”
AFN is constructing a state-of-the-art 6,600-mile network, with 3,300 miles already completed. The remaining backbone is on track to be 90% complete by February 2025. This strategic investment, totaling $340 million, will connect every corner in Alabama, making it one of the most robust and comprehensive networks in the Southeast.
“The pace of AFN’s development has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said Justin Forte, CEO, INDATEL Services. “Their commitment to innovation and regional collaboration aligns perfectly with INDATEL’s vision of providing high-quality connectivity solutions for rural and underserved areas. We are proud to welcome AFN to the family.”
AFN’s dedication to leveraging technology has been a cornerstone of its rapid success. Embracing hybrid work models, artificial intelligence tools, and innovative solutions for operational efficiency, AFN embodies a forward-thinking approach to telecommunications. As Metze said, “Success lies in the right team and culture. Our team combines seasoned expertise with youthful energy, enabling us to achieve our ambitious goals.”
AFN’s mission is to enhance economic development, education, and healthcare opportunities to promote growth and innovation across the state. By focusing on middle-mile connectivity, AFN empowers local providers to deliver connectivity solutions to underserved communities throughout Alabama.
“Alabama Fiber Network is poised to become a game-changer in the region,” said Zach Gonzalez, Vice President – Sales & Revenue, AFN. “By collaborating with INDATEL, we’re not only enhancing our reach but also contributing to the nationwide effort to bridge the digital divide.”
