Position Summary:
The Sales Engineer supports the sales process by combining technical expertise with strong customer-facing skills. This role works with clients to understand their communication and connectivity needs, design appropriate telecom solutions, and clearly explain the technical and business value of those solutions. The Sales Engineer partners closely with account executives, product teams, network engineers, implementation teams, and external vendors throughout the sales cycle.
The Sales Engineer collaborates closely with Sales, and Engineering to ensure accurate and complete solutions for our customers. This is a critical operational role that directly supports INDATEL’s ability to provide competitive telecommunications solutions to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with prospective and existing customers to identify technical requirements, business goals, budgets, and operational challenges.
- Design telecom solutions involving data, internet, cloud communications, networking, and managed services.
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, workshops, and proofs of concept.
- Prepare solution designs, network diagrams, equipment lists, technical proposals, statements of work, and responses to RFPs or RFQs.
- Recommend products and services such as SIP SD-WAN, UCaaS, CCaaS, MPLS, broadband, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, cybersecurity, and cloud connectivity.
- Evaluate customer networks and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear business benefits for technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Validate that proposed solutions are technically feasible, commercially competitive, and aligned with customer requirements.
- Provide technical guidance during pricing, contract negotiations, and solution revisions.
- Support account executives in achieving revenue, margin, and customer-retention targets.
- Coordinate with implementation and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to deployment.
- Maintain current knowledge of telecom products, network technologies, competitors, industry standards, and market trends.
- Update technical documentation and sales activity in CRM and proposal-management systems.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in a telecom engineering, network engineering, solutions consulting, pre-sales engineering, or technical sales.
- Working knowledge of IP networking, routing, switching, WAN services, and cloud communications.
- Understanding of technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SIP, VoIP, VPN, QoS, BGP, VLANs, and Wi-Fi.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, MEF, AWS, Microsoft, Fortinet, or vendor-specific telecom credentials.
- Knowledge of network security, cloud infrastructure, contact-center platforms, and telecommunications regulations.
- Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Ciena, Nokia, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, or similar platforms.
- Experience with carrier, ISP, enterprise networking, wireless, data center, or managed-service solutions.
- Experience responding to RFPs and supporting complex enterprise or public-sector sales opportunities.
- Experience using CRM tools such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Ability to assess technical requirements and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Strong presentation, communication, discovery, and consultative selling skills.
- Experience preparing proposals, technical documentation, diagrams, and customer-facing presentations.
- Ability to manage several opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations and industry events when required.
- Valid driver’s license
